Down Under Honey Australia is seeking an experienced and motivated Apiarist / Beekeeper to join their growing team. This full-time, permanent position involves hands-on work in all aspects of beekeeping operations, with a strong focus on honey production and crop pollination.
Working closely with the Apiary Manager, you’ll contribute to the success of the business by maintaining healthy bee colonies, managing pollination schedules, and overseeing seasonal activities across various sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Breed and raise bees for honey production and agricultural pollination.
- Monitor hive health and ensure optimal colony conditions.
- Identify and manage pests, diseases, and other risks to bee populations.
- Oversee and coordinate pollination for various horticultural crops.
- Track and manage flowering cycles to maximize use of honey-producing flora.
- Implement safe practices to minimize pesticide exposure.
- Support colony health through effective nutritional planning and feeding.
- Operate and maintain honey extraction equipment and facilities.
- Transport and relocate beehives as required.
- Assist with additional tasks as directed by management.
Essential Criteria & Skills
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar professional beekeeping role.
- Demonstrated ability to breed, manage, and maintain strong, healthy bee colonies.
- Strong understanding of bee health, hive maintenance, and disease prevention.
- Physically fit and able to work in diverse outdoor environments.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including at remote apiary sites.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
